Approaching puberty – your hormones are about to start running wild, causing you to perspire (sweat) more – which – if you leave it, will cause body odour.
A deodorant is usually with perfume and makes you smell nice, but an antiperspirant actually helps decrease sweating. You can also get deodorants with both.
Taking a daily shower, and wearing clothes made of natural fibers also helps you stay fresh. If you wear synthetic clothes chances are you’ll sweat more, and the odour will stay in the fibres of the clothes.

You can also have a pack of wet wipes in your bag in case you do sweat, so you can wipe your armpits and use a deodorant to freshen up. Using a deodorant on top of ‘old sweat’ is not going to make you smell any better, to be honest – so the wet wipe trick works better.
We have done the job for you and have found a selection of deodorants and antiperspirants which will make sure you are clean and fresh. We have listed names and ingredients here so you can find the one that works best for you.
We will also recommend telling your school friends if they need a deodorant. It might seem a bit harsh at first – so make sure you word it correctly and be nice about it. Tell them in the nicest possible way, and why not give them the link to this guide. It is better to be told – than smelling of sweat. Right?
